The Thomas Paine Hotel Wins Boutique Hotel of the Year Norfolk

Winner in the London and South East Prestige Awards 23/24

Under private ownership since 2013, The Thomas Paine Hotel is a beautiful boutique hotel set in the market town of Thetford. With a charming Victorian frontage, the property has been developed across three 18th century cottages and is named after Thetford-born political activist author and revolutionary, Thomas Paine. Boasting eleven uniquely decorated guestrooms and two spacious family rooms, the refurbished accommodation offers stylish and luxurious furnishings, cosy king-sized beds, and inviting amenities. The Thomas Paine Hotel is bursting with character throughout though, with wooden beams, stained glass windows, high ceilings and a wonderful open fire making it a memorable stay at the heart of Norfolk.

The judges were particularly impressed with the facilities and events on offer at the hotel, which delivers much more than a comfortable night’s stay. The Thomas Paine Hotel’s on-site restaurant, Franklins Brasserie, enjoys a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere and is perfect for lunch and an evening meal, with a sumptuous afternoon tea offered across the weekend too and tasty local produce set at the heart of its handmade menus. Under new ownership, the hotel has proven to be a popular venue for events too, with elegant wedding ceremonies as well as wedding breakfasts for more than 175 guests. Excellent new function rooms with full air con and murals of the man himself with Maharaja Duleep Singh. They also have many events of entertainment such as comedy nights and events which are regularly scheduled.
