The Cardiff Prestige judges have named Billy Pezzack as Music Mentor of the Year for 2020. Billy is a highly creative musician who teaches guitar for Cardiff University’s School of Music and at his private home studioGraduating in 2002 (B.MusHons) from London’s Guitar Institute and 2008 with PGDipMus  Advanced Jazz Studies at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Cardiff, he was awarded a distinction grade for his M.Mus project (A.M.S. 2019) with certified claim of musical innovation. Billy was awarded funding from the Arts Council for his innovative jazz concepts. He has taught weekly since 2002, offering grade study; study support with GCSE, A Level and university courses; project support; and learning for personal enjoyment.

He works with those from beginner to advanced level, giving lessons on singer-songwriting, folk, pop, funk, blues, rock, shred and jazz improvisation concepts and focusing on technique, practice methods, harmony and theory. His extensive knowledge has been recognised by many highly respected voices in his field.

Billy has recently released two very contrasting works (CD and download), Tea with an old lady is a solo singer-songwriter album with 11 original songs featuring vocal and acoustic guitar. Noise in my attic, his new jazz instrumental album with New York session drummer Joe AbbatantuonoJoe has a account, is getting rave reviews and played on national radio (Jazz FM). With his creativity and technical ability combined with a theoretical background in guitar playing, Billy is an ideal tutor for students in Cardiff and beyond.
